Public Engagement
The project “Balance & Wellbeing: Engaging the Community for the Health and Rights of Working Mothers with an Interdisciplinary Approach”, one of the winners of the UNIFI Extra 2024 Public Engagement Grant, includes 9 blended events (e.g., debates, science cafés, workshops, and gamification activities) and a podcast titled “Working Mothers in Power” (9 episodes). These initiatives will explore themes such as health, rights, work-life balance, and access to local and corporate support services for working mothers.
Vaccine Hesitancy: between the Legitimacy of Fear and the Duty to Know.
A Public Debate Towards a Participatory Citizenship
In recent years, the vaccine debate has shaped our daily lives, often forcing us to take sides in two opposing camps: pro and against. However, vaccine acceptance and hesitancy are very complex phenomena, multifaceted and influenced by multiple dimensions.
On November 21, 2024, at 9:00 PM, we invite you to join us at the S.M.S. Rifredi for an interactive meeting where experts in medicine, psychology, and communication sociology from the University of Florence will explore the issue of vaccine hesitancy from a multidisciplinary perspective.

A Public Meeting to Tackle Climate and Environmental Challenges Through an Interactive Participatory Game
The event will begin with presentations by Prof. Zetti and Dr. Testi, experts in environmental issues, who will introduce the topic of land use and its complex interactions with climate and natural balances. Following this, participants, guided by a facilitator ("Magister Ludi"), will take part in an interactive game designed to surface innovative and practical solutions to environmental challenges. The initiative is inspired by the concept of "participatory citizenship," which promotes active and informed public engagement.
The event is organized through the collaboration of the University of Florence, the European Consortium Phoenix, and Papillon Recreational Gaming Association, with the valuable support of the Municipality of Fucecchio.
Phoenix is a European project aimed at developing innovative solutions to address the climate crisis, making public participation a cornerstone for fairer and more sustainable environmental policies.
